Too Late with the Updates

I played this game heavily within the first months. I enjoyed, but my interest declined with the coming of winter. More important though, I was becoming bored of the same old Pokémon and constant pidgey and rattata spam that plagued this game. I havent played since then, but want to get back into the game for the new Pokémon.
But now, I feel I have waited too long and wont be able to properly and confidently regain my strong foothold in the game. Thanks Niantic (sarcasm)
