Unbalanced and easy to lose interest

With the latest update you can get special items to evolve certain Pokémon. One problem, its super unbalanced. My daughter and I stop at the same amount of poke stops and yet she has received 4 special items and I got none. Then when the 7 day streak special started, it gave me a sunstone. I waited another 7 days and got ANOTHER sunstone. Talk about a quick way to lose interest in this unbalanced game.
