Pokémon GO App Reviews

Raiding with members of any team is a great new feature. Very happy I gave the game a second chance.

Update: June 30, 2017: 1.) Pokémon should be levels 1 to 50 only. 2.) Trainers should travel to 8 Gyms in or around their hometown or state in order to defeat Gym Leaders and earn badges (Thunder Badge, Marsh Badge, etc.) 3.) Trainers should level up their Pokémon with battles from other Trainers and those who choose to be "Team Rocket" in the game. 4.) Trainers should be able to capture water-only, fire-only, grass-only etc and identify as "Bug Boy", "Lass", "Hiker", etc. Battles won/lost result in in-game currency being exchanged (or even real money - up to $50 a month that can be used for in-game purchases only) after a battle. 5.) Pokémon Center should be available at various points and heal ALL Pokémon. Trainers should be able to carry 6 to 10 Pokémon. 6.) The Shop should be available online in the game as well as Special Shops at certain spots to get Master Balls, Moonstones, Fire Stones, Water Stones, etc. 7.) Niantic, we want GBA Pokémon on a real-world scale. We want the same as the show. THATS Pokémon for me. 8.) You should have to meet a special person at a certain time of day to get a special Pokémon. (Virtual lady at local town flower shop gives you a level 50 Abra or guy at pizza shops gives you his Charmander or Pikachu.) Update: April 10, 2017: I hate this app so much. It makes no sense that I cant battle with my Pokémon to gain experience and evolve them that way. I cant choose the moves I want them to learn, and Im unable to find enough Squirtel in my home town to evolve to a Worturtle. My Pokémon are weak, and cant gain XP in battles so they cant grow and evolve. The buddy walking system is a joke. I had to walk miles just get a single candy for my Bulbasaur. Fire Pokémon are almost non-existent, and there is still no Pokémon center for healing the Pokémon whos energy you exhausted in the gym battle (all for no XP and no real pay-off). I also dont understand why the opponent Pokémon at the gym can attack several times but my Pokémon has to hold for several seconds without being hit in order to deliver its special attack. This is crap. I thought all of this was being fixed? I dont even want to have to physically travel in the real world - its distracting and having my face shoved in a phone in public is embarrassing. I want this kind of environment in a touch-screen Pokémon game. Let us roam the map freely and give us a virtual world within the app or let us use the mapping system that is in place. I drive to get around anyway, as my area literally has no Pokémon outside from normal and occasional water types. This isnt reflective of a traditional GameBoy game, as so many of us wish it was. Update August 9th: Im also fairly certain that Niantic is now paying people to post FIVE STAR reviews for this crap app. Most of the reviews dont even make sense. 1-3 Stars are usually people with real issues. Update August 8th: Okay, so this is pathetic. Theyre so busy changing the game animations and the looks of the Pokéballs (which now look terrible, by the way - less shiny, dull, and with a HUGE ugly button on them, barely visible black locking bar going around the ball) that theyve neglected to address the issue of only common Pokémon still spawning in rural areas, if any Pokémon spawn at all. Its incredibly annoying and frustrating knowing that just people some people live in larger cities theyre now on level 24 and 25, because the have the appropriate resources to play the game. They can get PokéStop items with each and from that can level their Pokémon up even further without much effort. We literally have to DRIVE to play this game, theres no walking to it. We wouldnt see anything if we walked. Im serious. Im just frustrated that theyre busy changing the look and the design when there are SERIOUS game flaws that arent being addressed. Maybe its taking longer to work out, and this was an easy fix, but really... the new Pokéballs have this cheap look to it. Id downgrade if I could. :-/ Well, I was very disappointed with the initial release. The Pokémon are just treated as "throw aways" and there is no achievement in leveling them up with gym battles or wild Pokémon encounters. You want people to exercise with this app? Make it a requirement to battle down the Pokémon and catch them with a PokéBall (one to THREE maximum) and then allow them to walk with them around other trainers to battle and earn Gym badges within 8 Gyms in their area, about 1/2 hour within each other. Make the state Capitol the Pokémon League or offer an online access version to it and then use your trained and leveled-up Pokémon to battle against the Elite Four. Find Thunderstones, Moonstones, Waterstones, and Firestones in areas around town. Allow for them to appear on the map like Pokémon. Give users the ability to evolve their Pikachu if they want and allow for their Pollywhirl to evolve when they want to with a Waterstone. How cool would that be? Also, we need a Pokémon Center to heal them without using potions galore. Have Niantic even played the original games? Im serious. This is NOT how Pokémon should be. But even more so, this app and game have just become a joke. No tracking, no excitement, and when your tracker when be zero you punished the players by taking away their online tracking maps. Do you know how exciting it was to find something other than a Pidgey or Zubat and hurry over to it? I live in a rural area, and got excited to go and drive 10 mins into town to get that Pokémon! It expired by then, but it was enough fun that I hung around to play for another three hours on my own. This game needs a lot of improvement. Ive spent over $20 and right now I cant do anything but hunt aimlessly for Pokémon. That gets old after about the first week.

Ok i understand why they added the speed limit feature. Its to stop people playing and driving, but its unfair for the people who are passengers. Why even ask if we are passengers if we cant do anything? You cant see any pokémon and use gyms/pokestops. Around me i have to walk 10 minutes to get to one pokestop, 20 for a gym. If i run which i do almost everyday i get there in like 8 minutes. Its either run all day long or drive. Neither works good honestly

Its not letting me put my pokemon in my teams gyms. It keeps saying the gym is under attack but I am literally sitting in an empty parking lot with not a single other car

The ideas are all there. Trading needs to be in the game ASAP and the idea of raids are great. It needs to be easier tho because it is hard to get 10 people to go up against a tyranitar. Gen 3 has to be released soon because people are losing interest. RAIDS HAVE TO GO ON ALL NIGHT. NIGHT RAIDS WOULD BE PREFERRED. MOST PEOPLE PLAY DURING THE NIGHT. the spawns for Pokémon are off and items need to spawn at a higher rate. It used to be extremely easy and now its too hard. It doesnt keep me engaged because I end up giving up. The gyms that are now pokestops are perfect. Great idea. But the motivation idea is kind of garbage. There needs to be more player to player action. I want to battle my friends but there is no way. All in all I believe its heading in the right direction but there are major fixes that need to be made

We used to be able to collect 100 coins every 21 hours. Now, its 50 coins every 24 hours (so less than half of before), and depends on opposing teams kicking you out of gyms. I suspect this is so they can get more people to pay for coins, and something all players should be made aware of. Also, CP does not matter anymore. In fact, higher CP Pokémon lose CP faster over time while in a gym. What a way to punish people for working hard for their high-leveled Pokémon, Niantic!

I like the new Raid Battle feature! I havent done one yet but I will soon!

Help us Niantic. Some of us true fans still have hope and are patient. We want more generations to be released. People who actually spend there money like me would appreciate it if incenses and lures actually spawned like they should.

I really wish you can add trading, like a player might find someone and they can then lookup the persons nickname and they can get a notification that you got a trade request in your journal or something and you and that person can see what you give and receive and once you both have approved you both receive the items saying that the request was accepted. If one of them didnt approve then you get a notification and they can maybe add a comment telling you why they didnt approve and maybe how they can improve the trade.

The game continues to be glitchy and at times does not award coins after your Pokémon have defended a gym.

I played it a couple of months ago delete the game because I got bored then now I want it again. Not only does it save your progress I cant even get in the game, I cant sign in with google then I make an account then it doesnt work. Dont get this game its really a waste of your time.

Its an amazing game still, with the newest update, its even better, but now after the newest update, I only get coins from what seems like every other Pokemon that returns from the gym, I thought we are suppose to get some everytime?

I figured out the new battle system and think it is prime! The new daily limit is of no issue, but I do know why some players might be disappointed.

I dont know whats going on for this app. It just keep crashing! Cashing! Cashing! An app should make people who play it enjoyable but not fraustrafed

Okay so here is my problem. We are trying to take a gym and this one guy called kingarruda has his Pokémon in there well you get it down and when it reaches the lowest CP possible for it the gym battle messes up. You battle it until its health reaches zero then nothing happens. Even if the timer reaches zero nothing happens. You can only run from the battle and itll give you an error message. So now we cant take any gyms from it because we cant kick his out if people feed it.

Its not that good a lot of lags and glitches I try to get items from pokestops and all it says is try again later

Why do you guys still have the ace trainer medal? What is the point of the youngster medal? As a matter of fact why do you even have the 1st set of medals with no bonus? What a waste of an idea and potential. At least make the magikarp medal useful to make shiny more frequent. P.s.: Gyms are still glitchy and broken...

It keeps crashing when I see something rare. Also this new update is bad now there are even more hackers and why do they put Farfeched in Asia and not here? Next my Lapras was my best Pokémon ever! Then you guys powered up my very stupid and lame Gengar over 2,000 CP and depowered my Lapras, and you gave me no candies back! Also it takes up too much battery power from the phone. And the raid bosses like the Tyranitar kept using crunch on us and nothing else. Also I tried literally tried like so many times to get this stupid Tyranitar that was super low, had a horrible attack because every 2 or 3 seconds it keeps jumping or batting the ball away from me. Please help me with this!!!!!!!!!!

It wont load since the new big update. I thought reinstalling it would help but it doesnt. I keep getting the Cant authenticate please try again screen. This lack of player support from the developers is annoying.
